Earlier this year, we procured a small shipment of Aged Indonesian coffee from the excellent Wahana estate in the Lintong region of Northern Sumatra. Originally planted by the Dutch in the 17th century, these Indonesian coffees would undergo a transformation on the long sailing voyages back to Europe. After months at sea exposed to high humidity, salty air, and other aromatic trade goods, these coffees took on unique qualities of flavor and body that are not found elsewhere in the coffee world.

Today, quality lots of Aged Indonesian coffees are stored in temperature and humidity controlled environments for several years after harvest but before export. This particular lot has all of the most desirable features we look for in this style of coffee, and has clearly been well tended prior to arrival at our warehouse.
