A dark, spicy, complex coffee

Many years ago, while exploring the majestic mountains of Colorado's western slope, I came across a game trail that beckoned me to follow. Deeper and deeper into the forest it led, descending finally to a steep, dark canyon thick with towering spruce and fir. Surrounded by silence, I was drawn by the sound of water to a small clearing. And there, hidden so well as to be almost invisible, was an ancient stone cabin. Amazed by this discovery, I entered to find only a bunk, a wood stove, a rocking chair, and to my delight, a coffee pot. Well... maybe I was just tired, or maybe it was the splendid isolation, but one thing I know for sure: a cup of coffee never, ever tasted so good.
